The Singular Center for Research in Biological Chemistry and Molecular Materials (CiQUS) is part of the USC Singular Research Centers Network and focuses its scientific objectives on the application of transdisciplinary strategies in the following areas:
- Biological and Medicinal Chemistry. New molecular tools for the therapy and diagnosis of diseases. The research includes from the study of the molecular basis of different biological processes to the discovery of drugs and strategies for their administration.
- New Functional Materials. Discovery of new organic, inorganic and metal-organic materials with unique properties. Special attention is given to applications at the frontier of cell biology, and new technologies for energy and molecular electronics.
- Synthetic Technologies. Design and development of new and efficient catalytic processes for the transformation of abundant raw materials into high value-added products, in an economical and environmentally friendly way.
