CINBIO, Center for Research in Nanomaterials and Biomedicine, is a Research Center of the University of Vigo, whose main task is research, development and innovation in the fields of nanomaterials and biomedicine.
CINBIO was established in 2009 as a strategic grouping, with the main objective of responding to the needs of the biomedical and biotechnological sector, from a joint collaborative project in which research groups from different areas of knowledge were grouped, which have given the multidisciplinary character that characterizes CINBIO. In 2016, it was consolidated as a Singular Research Center of the Galician University System, being recognized as a Center of Excellence by the Xunta de Galicia. Since then, CINBIO focuses its activity on generating knowledge through high impact research by performing R&D&I activities and developing its application.
CINBIO is headquartered at the Vigo Campus, although it also has groups located at the Ourense Campus. This location provides it with an incomparable geographical setting, which allows collaborations to arise, both among the research groups of the University, as well as with hospitals, companies, technology centers and nearby universities.
CINBIO, as a research center of reference in the area, has the fundamental objective of multiplying the return to society in the form of scientific knowledge and the training of professionals; at the same time it tries to carry out informative activities that allow to awaken vocations and increase the scientific culture of society, in order to ensure the future of vocations in research.
