Celtarys Research is a spin-off of the University of Santiago de Compostela that specialises in the design and synthesis of fluorescent probes for use in the drug discovery process. We are experts in Chemical Biology and Medicinal Chemistry, with more than 20 years of research experience. We have proprietary technology to develop fluorescent ligands with optimal pharmacological and photophysical properties. We have a validated portfolio of fluorescent ligands against GPCRs, a large family of receptors widely used as therapeutic targets due to their involvement in numerous physiological and pathological processes. In addition, our technology allows us to highly efficiently develop customized fluorescent ligands for any target of therapeutic interest.

Business areas:

Our activity is framed within the drug discovery sector. From Celtarys we want to promote the use of fluorescence-based techniques, as an alternative to radioactivity, in the early stages of research into new drugs.

Business lines:

We have three business lines:

1.- Commercialisation of our catalog of fluorescent ligands: Our ligands have been validated -in-house and by independent experts- in different HTS (High Throughput Screening) assays commonly used in the drug discovery process, such as Polarised Fluorescence, High Content Screening, HTRF and Flow Cytometry. They are also useful in microscopy assays on both transfected and native cells. This catalog initially focused on GPCRs, and is continuously expanding, incorporating new ligands against new GPCR receptors and/or other targets.

2.- Custom synthesis of new fluorescent ligands against targets of interest. Our chemical synthesis methodology allows the custom design and production of fluorescent ligands, in a very competitive time frame and with the optimal characteristics for their use in qualitative and quantitative assays.

3.- Agreements for the co-development of fluorescent probes for their application in specific assays. Co-distribution agreements.
