The Universidade da Coru\u00f1a was created by Law 11\/1989 of July 20, 1989, on the Organization of the Galician University System. On February 4, 1992, the Constituent Senate approved the University Statutes, which were published in the DOG on September 17, 1992.<\/p>\n
The University of A Coru\u00f1a is territorially structured into campuses in A Coru\u00f1a and Ferrol.<\/p>\n
The University of A Coru\u00f1a is a public institution whose main purpose is the generation, management and dissemination of culture and scientific, technological and professional knowledge through research and teaching.<\/p>\n
The University of A Coru\u00f1a conceives its essential purpose as a quality public service aimed at achieving higher levels of welfare for society as a whole through the pursuit of social, scientific and technological advances within a framework of generally accepted ethical values. Part of the mission of the University of A Coru\u00f1a is the formation of an open, educated, critical, committed, democratic and supportive citizenship, capable of analyzing reality, diagnosing problems, formulating and implementing solutions based on knowledge and oriented to the common good.<\/p>\n
The University of A Coru\u00f1a explicitly states its commitment to the study and integral development of Galicia, particularly its social, cultural and linguistic identity, and will also promote its full integration into the European Higher Education Area and its projection in Latin America.<\/p>\n
