Algas Atlánticas Algamar since 1996, has been the leading Spanish company specialising in the harvesting and processing of seaweed for human consumption, becoming the first certified organic range of seaweed products in Europe in 2010.
In line with our philosophy and ecological commitment, we use renewable energy in our production processes. The seaweed is harvested manually in a sustainable manner in the Galician sea by professional divers during the optimal season, to be processed and packaged using optimised processes, preserving all the quality and organoleptic, textural and nutritional properties of the seaweed.
We offer a wide range of seaweed in various formats: dehydrated, canned, salted, flours, deep-frozen; and seaweed products and preparations. Seaweed has important nutritional properties such as mineral salts and trace elements, proteins, almost the entire useful spectrum of vitamins and antioxidants, functional bioactive compounds and dietary fibre. It contains no sugars or fats. This makes it a highly nutritious food, but also one with interesting biotechnological properties in various markets such as textural, nutraceutical, and pharmacological.
In terms of food, its culinary uses are truly limitless, enhancing flavours and aromas (umami), textures (gelling agents), colours, and nutritional properties, making seaweed consumption a food with high nutritional value.
